Whipple Operation

The Whipple operation, also known as pancreaticoduodenectomy, is a complex and extensive surgical procedure that involves the removal of the head of the pancreas, the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine), a portion of the bile duct, the gallbladder, and sometimes a part of the stomach. It is primarily performed to treat pancreatic cancer, but it can also be used to address other conditions, such as chronic pancreatitis, tumors, or cysts in the pancreas, or bile duct problems.
