Permanent Pacemaker
It is a small unit that helps the heart to beat consistently. It provides a small electric stimulation that helps maintain a steady heartbeat for different conditions of arrhythmias. This helps the patient’s body circulate oxygen and other essential nutrients that it needs from the blood vessels.
The doctor implants the device under the skin by making a small pocket and connects it to the heart with the help of fine wires. Some patients need a pacemaker for a short time (like after a heart attack) to regularize the heart’s rhythm. For them an external pacemaker is attached that is battery operated and remains outside the skin (in the form of a belt or otherwise).
Permanent Pacemaker Implantation (PPI) is a procedure in which a small, battery-operated device called a pacemaker is implanted under the skin to help regulate abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). The pacemaker sends electrical impulses to the heart muscle to maintain a normal heart rate and rhythm, ensuring proper blood flow throughout the body.
