Malleolar Fixation

Malleolar fixation refers to the surgical procedure used to repair fractures or dislocations of the malleolus, which is the bony prominence on each side of the ankle. There are two primary malleoli in the ankle:
  • Lateral Malleolus: The bony prominence on the outer side of the ankle, which is part of the fibula.
  • Medial Malleolus: The bony prominence on the inner side of the ankle, which is part of the tibia.
  • Posterior Malleolus: A bony prominence located at the back of the tibia.
