Gastroscopy, also known as an upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure that examines the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and the upper part of the small intestine (duodenum). A thin, flexible tube called a gastroscope with a camera and light is used to capture images of the upper digestive tract.
