Pulmonary Embolism
Know About Treatment
A pulmonary embolism (PE) is a blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs, usually caused by a blood clot that travels to the lungs from the legs or other parts of the body (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT). This blockage can impair the ability of the lungs to exchange oxygen, and if severe, it can lead to life-threatening consequences such as heart failure, shock, or even death.
