Diabetes (Type 1 & Type 2)

Know Your Endocrinology and Diabetology Treatment
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition characterized by high levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood, either due to insufficient insulin production or ineffective use of insulin by the body. There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes: – It is an autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. As a result, individuals with Type 1 diabetes produce little to no insulin and must rely on external insulin sources to regulate their blood sugar. Type 2 Diabetes: – Here it is typically developing in adults but also increasingly seen in children and adolescents. In Type 2 diabetes, the body either becomes resistant to insulin (insulin resistance) or does not produce enough insulin to maintain normal blood sugar levels.
