Critical Care Nephrology is a specialized area of medicine that focuses on the management of kidney-related problems in critically ill patients. This subspecialty of nephrology deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of kidney complications in patients who are critically ill and often in an intensive care unit (ICU). Critical care nephrology addresses acute kidney injury (AKI), fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and dialysis therapy in patients with multi-organ failure or other life-threatening conditions.
