What is the difference between asthma and COPD?

  • Asthma is a chronic condition where the airways are inflamed and constricted, causing wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing, often triggered by allergens or exercise. It can be reversible with proper treatment.
  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is a progressive lung disease most caused by smoking. It includes conditions like emphysema and chronic bronchitis, where the airflow is gradually obstructed, and symptoms like chronic cough, sputum production, and shortness of breath worsen over time.
